L’Oreal, TRESemme’, Pantene…how about we go back to basics? Okay, so we’ve always known that you can’t beat a good ol’ natural hair care remedy, but who knew these faithful yet bizarre remedies could also do the trick?
Potato Juice
Really? YES really, really. Potato juice has so many benefits for your hair, skin and general health you can’t even imagine! But back to hair…it can be used to grow it faster. For this remedy, you’ll need to mix it with egg white and honey. Apply on your hair and let it sit for two hours. Rinse off with mild shampoo, then water and WALA!
Cayenne Pepper
So we heard from the great vine, apparently this remedy has been used for centuries to promote hair growth! Mixing cayenne pepper and olive oil is one of the best (yet cost effective) ways to recover the glossiness and fullness of your hair. Not only does it improve peripheral blood circulation but it also nourishes the scalp.
Garlic
A little Skool Science lesson for ya ladies…Garlic contains high levels of allicin, a sulfur compound similar to that found in onions (which prevents hair loss). For this remedy, rub sliced cloves of garlic on your scalp, squeezing as you go. Alternatively, you can also infuse oil with garlic and massage it into your scalp…smell ya later!
Onion JuiceThis is known to be one of the oldest yet efficient hair growth remedies…and you know what they say, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it! Onion juice is rich in sulphur, which boosts the production of collagen tissues and as a result promotes hair growth. Chop red onions or shallots into small pieces and then squeeze out its juice. Apply it on your scalp and keep for 15 minutes. Then rinse off with a mild shampoo…guess we’ll smell ya later again!
Indian Gooseberry (Amla)Known as the ‘magical hair remedy’, the Gooseberry contains high levels of Vitamin C which is great for adding lustre and softness to the hair as well as curing dryness. Mix a little amla powder with water and leave overnight. The next day, apply this paste to your hair, let it sit for a three-four hours and wash with a mild shampoo.
Hibiscus flower
Aww the lovely Hibiscus a.k.a “The Queen flower of hair care.” Not only is Hibiscus oil great for enhancing hair growth but it also has an array of other benefits including prevention of hair loss, getting rid of dandruff and strengthening hair roots. Simply make a paste of the hibiscus flower with coconut oil or sesame oil and apply on the hair, then rinse with a mild shampoo.
