Harley Bird may look like your ordinary 12-year-old…well, until you realise that she’s the official voice of Peppa Pig!
Harley began her acting career at six-years-old after landing the role of Peppa Pig, which is now a global phenomenon! At nine-years-old she became the youngest person ever to win a Bafta award and was nominated ‘Best British Newcomer’ at the British Independent Film Awards 2013 for the Oscar-Winning film ‘How I Live Now‘.
When Harley’s not appearing as a regular panelist on CBBC’s ‘The Dog Ate My Homework’ or Newsround, she’s being interviewed on BBC Radio 1 by Chris Moyles, reading stories to patients at Birmingham Children’s Hospital…or stopping by to have a chat with me!
What’s the best thing about being an actress?
Meeting lots of new people. Everybody I have met so far is very nice.
In October you appeared in Series 8, Episode 10 of Doctor Who. What was it like starring alongside Peter Capaldi?
He is very funny and a brilliant actor! I love to watch him act, so it was a great experience.
What is a typical day like in the life of Harley Bird?
I spend a lot of time outside in the woods. I live on a farm with my brother and sisters; we have horses, chickens and quad bikes. Me and my brother Rosco are also kick boxers and currently working on our black belts.
What’s the ultimate dream for your acting career…is there anything else you’re itching to do in the future?
I would really really love to do a big film, like James Bond or Star Wars. It would be great if Saoirse Ronan could be in it again, I have adopted her as my sister.
This month we are encouraging our readers to think about how they can ‘give back’. How important do you think it is?
This is very important to me. My little friend Margot who was a huge Peppa fan died recently. I am going to be an ambassador for her appeal – www.teammargot.com - it will be raising global awareness for stem cell donor recruits.

I hear you are a fan of Catherine Tate. Have you ever thought about doing comedy?
I really like comedy. I like to make people laugh and like speaking in different accents too. I do a funny Sicky Vicky.
What are three random facts we don’t know about you?
I have a cat called Sk8ter Boy, I am half Kiwi (my dad is from New Zealand) and I should be a black belt kick boxer in six months.
What can we expect from you in 2015?
More TV & film, Peppa’s 10th Birthday and becoming an ambassador for children’s charities.
What advice can you give to a Skool Girl?
Never give up. Be yourself and don’t follow the crowd.
