Last December GL Records released their seven track EP ‘Lift J 3:14’ featuring the highly appraised hit ‘Question’ brought to us by popular Birmingham rapper Ni-Sheng.

For their second EP ‘Lift 3’, GL presents a range of vocal styles as well as a wide variation of genres highlighting the distinctive talent that the UK’s gospel music scene has to offer.

The EP begins with the upbeat and tuneful ‘Searched’ by Natty Joshia followed by the calm musical transition of Selina Cole’s ‘Racing for My Life’, with a contemporary composition, the likable song expresses pressures of life and how to overcome them by continuing to press on through the struggle.

As the title suggests, we are then uplifted by ‘The Light’ from Treblez, with a warm melody and smooth textures in the gracefully sang chorus. Sending us into a time of reflection, Alima Rico -Emmanuel’s ‘Be Still’ blends rich dynamics of acoustic guitar with simple lyrics, beautiful vocals and divine, sparkling harmonies. This breath-taking number reminds us of Jesus’ infamous parable of the ‘Prodigal Son’ accompanied by thought provoking questions throughout, ‘Who do you serve, Who are you listening to, Why would you go?’

More intriguing tempos follow with Maf-Dot-You’s ‘Like A Star’, this slickly produced masterpiece presents an adventurous, high spirited vibe fused with captivating lyrical content – SHUUR credit worthy for the repeat button!

Towards the end we are pumped up with a creative sprightly freestyle from Breaker backed by the resonant ‘Check Out Riddim for a statement finish.
