2015’s biggest books party is coming to a screen near you, as Children’s Laureate Malorie Blackman gets ready to launch a new online book festival for teenagers.
As part of world book day, Teen Fest will take place between 4-5 March between 6pm and 8pm, and will see authors on social media through hosted interviews as well as podcasts, music playlists, vlogs, blogs, booked themed DIY’s, and short films about careers in publishing.
Malorie Blackman will be the first author featured and will take part in a Facebook interview on the 4th March.
Malorie, who is author of many popular young adult novels such as Noughts & Crosses told BBC Newsbeat: “First and foremost I want to highlight the fact that reading is a great deal of fun. The activities will take place on sites including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Google Hangout. Most of the correspondence I receive now is via Facebook or email from fans who love my books. Sometimes it’s a bit of a double-edged sword but on the whole I love it because it means you have got instant access to your audience and they’ve got access to you.”
