As the world remembers the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela – South Africa’s first Black president, on Sunday 15 December The Drum will be hosting a special tribute to celebrate the history of the apartheid icon.
Paying respects to Mandela’s fight for social justice and equality, the event will feature discussions, tributes, archive footage, and a range of musical performances including Reggae, Hip-Hop, R&B, Soul and Bhangra.
As Birmingham gets ready to join South Africa live on the night and speak to ex-patriots who will be sharing great memories of Mandela; some of the city’s most renowned artists including Asha B, Priscilla Cameron, Tish Blake, The Dhol Blasters (just to name a few), will also make guest appearances.
Truly promising to be an inspiring occasion, visitors are also invited to sign The Drum’s Book of Remembrance, which will be presented to the South African Embassy.
Be sure not to miss this incredible opportunity to pay respects to the world’s true hero!
