The Double Donut Burger?…More Like “Double Death”

The Double Donut Burger
Talk about death on a plate. Lem (my older sister) told me this is a completely inappropriate statement to make.

But what if I told you that the Double Donut Burger has 1966 calories – that’s like 98 per cent of a woman’s Guideline Daily Amount!

This is insane. Like seriously, what kind of mad man would create this?

It was launched last month as part of a new Hungry Horse menu with the tagline ‘So Wrong It’s Right’ – and they certainly weren’t lying…about the wrong part I mean!

It costs £8.99 and is made up of two beef burgers topped with melted cheese, 4 smoked streaky bacon rashers and BBQ sauce served in two grilled, glazed ring donuts.

Now it may sound scrumptiously tempting (minus the bacon), BUTlet’s just be realistic here, you eat this burger and you have practically eaten your three square meals for the day. Surely I can’t be the only one who finds this disturbing.

“Hungry Horse obviously have no conscience and no doubt both their wallet and the size of their customers will be getting fatter by the week!” says Mel Wakeman, Nutritionist and Senior Lecturer at Birmingham City University.

“To me, this is simply ludicrous and irresponsible. I am no kill joy but why is this sort of food available? This burger is literally a heart attack on a plate. Why can’t they include on the menu what the customer would need to do to burn all those calories off? In the case of this Double Donut Burger, around three hours of continuous running should just about do it. I wonder how many people would still opt for the item knowing this.”

Well to answer your question Mel, no burger is worth a three-hour marathon, so I’ll be the first one to pass thanks!
