Ever wondered what celebrity fitness fanatics have in their breakfast baskets? Well I personally didn’t until this months ‘Women in the Media’ theme.
What’s quite intriguing is that these breakfast recommendations are more yummier than I first anticipated, considering how healthy and in shape these health enthusiasts look. Care to try for yourself?
Mary Helen Bowers: The Oaty Fruity Gal
In an interview with Romy Soleimani on Beauty Close Up Blog, Mary says ‘I always start with a healthy breakfast — slow cooked oatmeal with raw nuts and berries is my go-to. And I try to fit in as many extra salads and veggies as I can. Nutrition definitely plays a big role in getting in shape and leading a healthy lifestyle. And thankfully, there is so much that you can do to make a difference in your physique and weight without extreme dieting, juicing etc. At the end of the day, depriving yourself of too many calories and nutrients will just work against you. It slows down the metabolism, makes you cranky, and worse.’
Jillian Michaels: The Muffin Lady
Jilian tells Self magazine that she starts her day off right by stocking up on carbs for long-lasting energy. “Breakfast is usually whole-grain Ezekiel English Muffins with almond butter,” says The Biggest Loser Trainer “And I eat two whole English Muffins, about 500 calories.” she also admits in Self “I’m not the girl who loves to go to the gym. And I’m not the girl who loves broccoli, either. But I am the girl who feels potent, capable and confident when she feels strong, and I don’t want to give that up. To me, it’s about building a better body.”
Christine Avanti: The Veggie Eggy Chic
‘You can’t walk by a magazine stand these days without 10 magazines with cover headlines such as “Lose Belly Fat Fast” or “Lose The Last 10” or “Lose 7 Inches in 7 Days,” etc. And in each of these magazines you will find a meal plan that lists this exact breakfast: Steel cut oats, blueberries, orange juice (or a similar variation) It is almost the universal magazine and media breakfast.’ says Christine on mindbodygreen.com ‘My favourite breakfast for weight loss is a veggie egg white scramble AND the steel cut oats – or another carb such as whole wheat toast, Kashi cereal, or fresh fruit. Now that’s a tasty, fulfilling breakfast and not a diet. For some reason the media won’t recommend this kind of meal. However, nutritionists and experienced personal trainers who have extensive real weight loss experience know this.’
